For a long time I’ve been thinking about this website/blog, deciding what is meant to be created with it.  The one thing I feel great about is making it a priority to write something here at least once every day.  My life is moving soooo quickly with amazing miracles and experiences happening all the time, that it’s difficult to convey much of that without regular writing.

Why do I want to share this?  Honestly, to continually remember and testify of a few things:

  1. God delivers His people from bondage
  2. God is the way; His yoke is easy, His burden is light – He will guide us every day
  3. God’s miracles have not ceased – can live a life of daily miracles
  4. When we follow what God directs, we prosper and are blessed – He can make our lives so much greater than what we can, giving flight to our dreams and depth to our experiences
  5. God desires for us to be full of joy, truly happy
  6. We are God’s literal children, here to learn more and become more like Him – this is an exciting privilege where we recognize how we are creators in embryo and that we get to grow in our capacity to create more good, beauty and light in the world
  7. Our desires are sacred to God
  8. When/If we “live up to (our) privileges, angels cannot be restrained from being (our) associates” – Joseph Smith
  9. Unity with God is primary, but we are also to find and create unity with each other, creating more holiness in our relationships – letting true love guide
  10. “When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives.” – Ezra Taft Benson; putting God first means putting the needs and interests of our homes and families first
  11. We can each come to know more fully who we truly are, God delights to show us this when we seek it
  12. There is no greater joy on earth than can be found in the family unit; can make our homes places where “angels may delight to come and visit your beautiful locations” – Brigham Young
  13. God is a God of the present moment; true peace, joy and strength are found by finding and connecting to God in the present moment – true presence is the key to everything we desire; gratitude is the key to finding presence
  14. The most important things in life we can ever know or help someone else to learn are the answers to these questions: 1. Who am I?  2. Whose am I? 3. What am I to do today? 4. What do I desire to create?
  15. We have the choice to create exactly the life experience we desire

In thinking about whatever I could write about here, this list seems to sum everything up.  Each of these points I have come to know deeply.  They are no longer things I just believe or have faith in – they are real to me.

Yesterday in Church I was so inspired by the woman who was teaching one of the lessons.  She was an 80+ year old lady who is deaf, runs marathons and is about to serve her 6th senior couple mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this time in South Africa.  Her enthusiasm for the Gospel and for serving the Lord was absolutely contagious.  I don’t think I’ll ever forget the testimony she bore of how greatly we can bless the Lord’s people by serving wherever the Lord calls us to go.

This is one of my greatest desires right now: to go where the Lord wants me to go, to be who He wants me to be, to say what He wants me to say, and to do what He wants me to do.  As she was bearing her testimony and sharing some of the beautiful experiences she and her husband have had from serving the Lord in this way, I thought about how easy it is to put a box around doing “the Lord’s will.”  For example, we tell the Lord that we want to serve in His Church, but limit it by saying that we’re only open to serving in an area that is right by our extended family, or that is a place where we are familiar.  Is this really fair to God?  Is it really a “thy will be done” approach?  I don’t think so.  However, I know that God is merciful and that our desires are sacred to Him.  The trick is to continually seek for our desires to line up with His.  That’s where the miracles occur and where life gets truly exciting and wonderful!!
