Things have been CRAZY busy in my neck of the woods. We moved recently to a home and area that inspires us! It’s such an exciting move and things have really come together miraculously for this to happen.
We moved due to my full-time brand/project management position being such a long drive away from home. My hours and pay were increasing and it was getting really difficult to do much other than work and commute. So, we moved closer to a house closer to my work that’s on top of a mountain. It’s just INCREDIBLE to live up here! We’re about 15 minutes away from a store, but we don’t mind at all. We realized that we’ve been planning our lives around conveniences for too long, wanting to live where we’re close to things. However, we don’t spend the majority of our time at the store anyways. We spend most of our time at home, so it makes sense that “home” should be a space that we absolutely adore to be in. There are breath-taking mountain views out all the back windows. We eat our meals and wake up to a reminder of the grandeur of God and His creations. It’s been so neat!
However, a few wild things happened with our move that we’re still trying to recover from. The first is that I left for a week to Dallas for my sweet cousin’s wedding and for some business. I brought Jules with me, but had to leave all 4 of our other kiddos with Randy while he packed up our house and moved us! Randy is a SUPER-DAD and husband. I still can’t believe that he really did that – wow. When I got back in town, we had a HUGE deadline with my work which made it so I was barely home at all, sleeping only a few hours a night (at most) and not having any time to start unpacking until last Friday. So, our house is still in a bit of disarray, but it’s slowly getting there. Wild!
The other crazy thing is that Claire’s birthday happened last week on the day of my HUGE work deadline. This was a painful moment to miss celebrating with her all day due to needing to work. However, I am so grateful for my work and know that days like that are rare. Claire and I had a really fun shopping outing that afternoon and then we’re going to party this Friday. Things are still busy so I’m not sure how we’ll pull it all together in time, but I woke up early and felt like I should make an invitation for her party. I used to make invitations and all sorts of fun things for my family, but haven’t done as much lately, so this was truly a treat.
This is what I came up with:
When she woke up, she totally lit up to see the invitation! Worth every ounce of energy to create it! We moved last year around Claire’s birthday too and her birthday kind of got lost in the mix, so I wanted to be sure to make a big deal out of it this year. Birthdays are special for every kid, but when you’re one of 5 young kids, birthdays are HUGE. It’s the difference between feeling like you’re just one of the crowd, to feeling like you are unique and treasured.
So, now we’re off to the races today! LOTS to do and the kids all have their lessons this afternoon (ballet for the girls and skating for Tate). Hope you’re having a lovely day today!!
