Small Moments of Pure Joy // Special Guest Molly Mahoney (Episode 77)

In this week’s Joyful Living podcast, you’ll hear the wonderful conversation I was able to have with Molly Mahoney.

Molly happens to share many of my thoughts and passions for living a joyful life and talking to her, it felt like I was connecting with a long-lost soul sister! I was surprised at how many joyful connections I share with Molly…from big ideas to small details.

What I loved most about hearing from Molly is her strong conviction of living a joyful life no matter what. Here is a person who has trained herself over the years to find specific ways to recognize even the smallest joys in her everyday life.  She shares with us her methods for recording those small bits of happiness and making room for them in even the most hectic of schedules.

Molly’s thoughts reminded me so much of how important it is to tune in to what makes us happy every single day. It might be the way a piece of handmade felt feels in your fingers, the first sip of your favorite cup of coffee or the way the breeze hits you when you walk outside. It’s so easy to get caught up in trying to be a better mom or building your business to the next level or even living up to someone else’s definition of joy that we often overlook the simple moments of joy that are happening every single day.

We all owe it to ourselves to take the time to recognize and enjoy these moments of pure joy that flow into our daily lives.  When we fail to recognize joy, we can’t really expect to bring our A-game when it comes to running a business or home successfully. Experiencing joy fills us up so that we are ready to tackle those other important tasks in life.

I hope you’ll take the time to listen to this amazing conversation I had with Molly, where we discuss a wide range of topics – from bubble baths to Facebook bots! Molly also shares a special gift with all Joyful Living listeners that I’m sure you will find valuable.

Simplicity and Space // Special Guest Milana Leshinsky (Episode 76)

I was only 20 minutes into my conversation with this week’s special guest, Milana Leshinsky, when she shared this wonderful nugget with me:

“Imagine that growing your business is as simple as waking up and being you.”

Wow!

This is just one of several powerful statements Milana made during our conversation that stuck with me long after our interview was over. Her insight and experience is invaluable to anyone looking to find the balance between building a business that fits your life and the growth and success you desire.

Milana shares several key lessons she has learned over the years as she has built several businesses from the ground up. She came to the United States as a musician from the Ukraine and quickly learned that her set of “super skills” would lead her on a completely different path.

Her story is inspiring and very educational… and so relatable for anyone on the journey of entrepreneurship.

“How much space are you willing to let your business take up in your life?”

Such an important question and another one of my favorite ah-ha moments from Milana! It made me stop and think about times in the past when I’ve maybe been too involved with my business at the expense of missing time with family or spending time finding joy in my life. Milana assures us that by staying focused on our passion and true motivation, we can run a business that is motivating, fulfilling, and even FUN… without missing out on creating our personal joy.

“Your business vision is guided by the vision for your life.”

We all have a unique vision for the joyful life we want to create. Is our business in line with that vision? How often do we find ourselves in a position where the work we do is becoming more of a distraction or hindrance to achieving what we really want? Listen to Milana share an important discovery she made while trying to push a part of her business that wasn’t part of her life’s vision (keyword – migraine headaches!).

“Simplicity is subjective.”

Milana is big on simplicity and she shares her thoughts on how we can all be more successful in business and in our personal lives by finding our “simplicity zone.” But she’s quick to point out that simplicity is different for everyone. This is where our own “super skills” come into play – the things that we are naturally good at, but don’t always recognize.

I just LOVE the insights that show up and the wisdom we get to share together on this joyful living journey! Milana is a remarkable example and teacher, and it was such a privilege to connect with her and feel of her passion and energy for creating joy and simplicity in life and in business.

I would love to hear your thoughts about today’s conversation and to take in your perspective on how we can each find and create clarity, space, simplicity and JOY in our lives. Head on over to the Soulful Business and Branding Facebook Group to share!

Staying True to What You Really Enjoy // Special Guest Gavin Zuchlinski (Episode 75)

Anyone who has listened to the show regularly in the past will quickly realize why Gavin Zuchlinski is perfect for this audience. With so many of us trying our best to grow our businesses while balancing family, home and the many other pieces of life, it’s wonderful to hear from someone with a firm belief that work should be fun!

Gavin is the founder of Acuity, the most intuitive and easy-to-use scheduling software on the planet. They say necessity is the mother of invention – hear how Gavin’s own mother played an important role in the creation and development of Acuity… and how he did it with a focus on staying true to what he really enjoys.

Imagine growing your business with the sole purpose of doing what you really LOVE to do…without the worry and stress of turning a profit or reaching the next level. That’s exactly what Gavin was allowed to do as he grew Acuity to what it is today. In the process, he learned some valuable and inspiring lessons that we can all learn from.

So how do you go about building a business by focusing solely on what makes you happy and thoroughly enjoying every minute of it? For Gavin, it was all about concentrating on the value he was able to bring to his clients. He shares with us that, in the beginning especially, it was essential to stay focused on the VALUE of his software while avoiding getting caught up with logistics and infrastructure.

By the way, if you haven’t checked out Acuity yet, you really should! I use it myself (full disclosure) and have been absolutely amazed at how much time I save and how much more productive I can be with my time.

When I asked Gavin what pitfalls he most often sees in working with entrepreneurs, he mentioned the following:

1. Providing convenience for your clients to access your value.

One-on-one time with your clients is the most valuable part of your business. Spending too much time scheduling appointments, including all of the back and forth texts and emails, slows you down and prevents you from working directly with your clients. Making the scheduling simpler and more convenient helps you get the most value to your clients sooner.

2. Focusing on perfection.

Gavin says that he sees many entrepreneurs get so caught up with perfecting their logistics, brand or marketing that they often miss key opportunities. His advice – let those things come into play naturally. Instead, focus on adding value to your business.

3. Spending time wisely.

When Acuity was first getting started, Gavin was still working a separate full-time job, which forced him to become very particular about what he spent his time on. Again, he suggests continuing to keep an eye on value – know the real worth and impact of what you offer to your clients and spend your time accordingly. This is exactly what Acuity was built to do.

There are so many other fantastic nuggets of advice and insight that Gavin shares throughout this podcast. If you’re anything like me, you will finish listening with at least 2 or 3 ideas running through your head of how you can make some adjustments in your own business, and how to do so in a way that allows you to thrive in your zone of genius and create more joy in your life!

Freedom Beyond Stories // Special Guest Calli Lewis (Episode 74)

One of the things I value most in life and throughout my business and podcasting journey, is the gift of being able to connect with and build relationships with so many remarkable people.

In our quest for more joyful lives, it’s so important to find people that can be there in the best AND the worst times.

For me, Calli Lewis has been one of those people.

Calli and I have had the pleasure and fun of helping each other face life’s adventures and challenges, and learn what we can along the way. We struggle together, shift perspectives with each other, and, at the end of the day, enjoy some good laughs and soak in more joy together.

Today, we dive into another honest and refreshing conversation about the stories that hold us back from experiencing life with freedom and chasing the things we really desire for ourselves and those we love.

As you listen in, I invite you to ask yourself the following questions:

  • What do you really want?
  • Why do you feel or think that you can’t you have what you want?
  • What’s holding you back from really feeling free?

Oftentimes, we let fear or self-imposed limitations keep us from the abundance, joy, freedom, and love we desire. But, what would happen if we allowed ourselves to really explore those fears and limitations and maybe even to let them go?

After all, it’s when we finally allow ourselves to SEE what’s holding us back before we can actually get to work on changing it!

YOU ARE BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL, AND MAGNIFICENT!

So, don’t let the stories looming under the surface stop you from setting yourself free to be everything you are and to have what you truly want. Listen to the pieces of your heart that are showing you your dreams and urging you to live bigger and seek even more joy.

And, if you’re feeling alone in this journey or just need some extra love, support, and power from other women traveling similar paths, PLEASE come join us in the Joyful Living Facebook Group.

We would LOVE to connect with you, cheer you on, and be with you as you experience the ups and downs that so many of us face. My intention is for the group to be a beautiful network of women empowering each other to share, learn, grow, and find joy.

Hope to see you there!

Soulful Creation (Episode 73)

You know you were born for something more. You can feel it inside of you. And yet, your everyday life may not seem to be mirroring that. You may even be feeling like your dreams are not going to come true, or maybe some have and it feels like they didn’t really change your life or how you feel about yourself like you thought they would. Maybe you’ve created lots of financial success or a smokin’ hot body, but still feel empty or like your relationships just aren’t thriving. OR maybe you’re holding back on creating what you really desire because you’re afraid it won’t really matter and make a difference.

WHATEVER your story is about why you’re playing smaller or not really leaning in fully to JOY each and every day, today’s episode of the Joyful Living Podcast will support you in breaking free so you can follow your heart and soul and find more of what you’ve been looking for.

Joyful Living Quinn Curtis ep 73

In today’s episode I share how to create our dreams and goals IN FLOW + ON FIRE. Listen in as I explain what soulful creation has actually looked like in my life, so you can lean in to soulful creation even more in your life by understanding how this all can work harmoniously.

So many of us play small and keep our dreams quiet because we think it’s “better” for everyone and will rock the boat of our lives too greatly to actually listen and take action. Others of us may feel frustrated from taking action, but feeling like we’re never going to get anywhere and our dreams will go unmet.

We discuss the hunger that lives within all of our hearts and souls and how too many of us live starving instead of meeting this hunger and thirst, able to meet the needs and satiate the desires within.

I also share more about the recent birth of one of my BIG heart + soul dreams: Soul Brand Camp. It was epic, magical + life-changing for myself and all who attended. And yet, it was terrifying at many moments to create and almost didn’t happen due to the subconscious self-sabotage at work. Listen in to learn how to navigate these uncharted waters of your soul to finally create what you’ve been craving and dreaming of for so long.

I also mention how I was begged to do another Soul Brand Camp, so registration is live now for the next event in October and you can see the details by clicking the image below. We’d LOVE to have you join us if your soul is calling for this epic, magic + life-changing weekend! In order to keep it a small, intimate experience, in person tickets are limited and are expected to sell out, so if you want to be there, snag your ticket soon. SOOOO BEAUTIFUL + YUMMY!!!

Here’s what attendees are saying about their experience at Brand Camp:

“Thank you Quinn!! What an amazing, insightful, soulful, very powerful workshop!! You are truly amazing and so gifted!!” – Marian Evans-Dimarco

“I was so lucky to be part of something amazing today!! I didn’t want the day to end. I went to Soul Brand Camp and was so enlightened, cheered on and loved by so many wonderful women!! Thank you, Quinn Curtis, for making this possible. And all the gorgeous insight you have and letting your light shine! I am so grateful for this day!!!! And so excited for what’s next!” – Jande La’ulu

“You’re so in your genius with this. Such a blessing to all of us wanting something really practical, juicy and authentic.” – Mish Pope

And, as promised, here are a few photos from the Soul Brand Camp event that just happened. Please enjoy and feel of the love and magic within this creation! Let it inspire and energize your own soulful creation!

Owning our own genius + celebrating the genius within everyone!

All live, in-person attendees had a beautiful headshot taken of them at the event to support their soul brand development.

Cheering on every person as they had their headshot photos taken! This was one of the most fun parts of the day (and almost every attendee was nervous about having their photo taken). But we made it a party!

And here are some of the gorgeous headshots! Everyone looks so beautiful!

The lovely VIP dinner afterwards:

And deep gratitude to my epic support team:

Remember, if you’d like to join us next time, register for the October 2017 Soul Brand Camp today! We’d love to cheer you on and support in you in finding your zone of genius + magic in your business, brand + life! xoxo

The Courage to be Intentional // Special Guest Nicole Holland (Episode 72)

Host of two hot podcasts; The Business Building Rockstars Show & Get Guest Ready, Nicole Holland helps subject matter experts increase their visibility exponentially through podcast guesting to create greater impact, influence, and income. I hope you’ll listen in as she shares her passion and perspective on intention and quality time in life and in business!

Today, we talk about the importance and joy in being PRESENT IN THE MOMENT, we remember that it takes COURAGE to be intentional, and we take comfort in the reality that self-awareness is an ongoing journey.

We all encounter challenges, trials, and obstacles in life, in relationships, and in business. Worry and stress can creep in and overwhelm us so easily, if we let them.

Nicole shares an insightful tip for gaining clarity in those moments of worry: she simply pauses and asks herself, “Whose business is this? Is the thing that’s causing my stress and worry MY business? Someone else’s business? Or, is it God’s business?”

The brilliance in asking these questions is that, once you identify who’s business it is, you can then choose how to respond. If the issue isn’t something that you have direct control over or can’t easily manage, then it’s simply not your business! And, if it’s not your business, there’s no use worrying about it any more.

As you let go of the things you can’t control, you’re better able to focus your intentions and efforts on being present in your life and really living in the moment.

Living in the moment isn’t just about using our time wisely, but about the quality of the time we spend. Time is one of the few limited resources we have, and it’s often squandered so easily because we get distracted.

Have you ever had the sense that you’re living your life on autopilot? Have you had those moments when you look around and wonder if your life or business really reflect what’s most important to you?

That is what living intentionally is all about. It’s about choosing the walk the path of self-awareness… and to return to that path over and over again.

As you go through the ups and downs in life, remember to ask yourself what’s really important to you. Be open and honest with yourself about how you want to run your life, your business, and your household.

Nicole encourages us to find what it is that we can’t live without doing, having, or becoming… and then to commit wholeheartedly to realizing that passion and those dreams in our lives. Then, from there, it’s all about just enjoying the journey and remembering that, even when we encounter something that looks bad on the surface, there’s always a lesson to be learned, an opportunity to take, and joy to be found.
