Staying True to What You Really Enjoy // Special Guest Gavin Zuchlinski (Episode 75)

Anyone who has listened to the show regularly in the past will quickly realize why Gavin Zuchlinski is perfect for this audience. With so many of us trying our best to grow our businesses while balancing family, home and the many other pieces of life, it’s wonderful to hear from someone with a firm belief that work should be fun!

Gavin is the founder of Acuity, the most intuitive and easy-to-use scheduling software on the planet. They say necessity is the mother of invention – hear how Gavin’s own mother played an important role in the creation and development of Acuity… and how he did it with a focus on staying true to what he really enjoys.

Imagine growing your business with the sole purpose of doing what you really LOVE to do…without the worry and stress of turning a profit or reaching the next level. That’s exactly what Gavin was allowed to do as he grew Acuity to what it is today. In the process, he learned some valuable and inspiring lessons that we can all learn from.

So how do you go about building a business by focusing solely on what makes you happy and thoroughly enjoying every minute of it? For Gavin, it was all about concentrating on the value he was able to bring to his clients. He shares with us that, in the beginning especially, it was essential to stay focused on the VALUE of his software while avoiding getting caught up with logistics and infrastructure.

By the way, if you haven’t checked out Acuity yet, you really should! I use it myself (full disclosure) and have been absolutely amazed at how much time I save and how much more productive I can be with my time.

When I asked Gavin what pitfalls he most often sees in working with entrepreneurs, he mentioned the following:

1. Providing convenience for your clients to access your value.

One-on-one time with your clients is the most valuable part of your business. Spending too much time scheduling appointments, including all of the back and forth texts and emails, slows you down and prevents you from working directly with your clients. Making the scheduling simpler and more convenient helps you get the most value to your clients sooner.

2. Focusing on perfection.

Gavin says that he sees many entrepreneurs get so caught up with perfecting their logistics, brand or marketing that they often miss key opportunities. His advice – let those things come into play naturally. Instead, focus on adding value to your business.

3. Spending time wisely.

When Acuity was first getting started, Gavin was still working a separate full-time job, which forced him to become very particular about what he spent his time on. Again, he suggests continuing to keep an eye on value – know the real worth and impact of what you offer to your clients and spend your time accordingly. This is exactly what Acuity was built to do.

There are so many other fantastic nuggets of advice and insight that Gavin shares throughout this podcast. If you’re anything like me, you will finish listening with at least 2 or 3 ideas running through your head of how you can make some adjustments in your own business, and how to do so in a way that allows you to thrive in your zone of genius and create more joy in your life!

Gavin Zuchlinski is the founder of Acuity Scheduling, the slickest way for businesses to automate and manage their appointments online, allowing clients to schedule themselves. Gavin is a self-professed tech geek and espresso maniac (a word he does not use lightly) who wholeheartedly believes that business should be fun.

Soulful Creation (Episode 73)

You know you were born for something more. You can feel it inside of you. And yet, your everyday life may not seem to be mirroring that. You may even be feeling like your dreams are not going to come true, or maybe some have and it feels like they didn’t really change your life or how you feel about yourself like you thought they would. Maybe you’ve created lots of financial success or a smokin’ hot body, but still feel empty or like your relationships just aren’t thriving. OR maybe you’re holding back on creating what you really desire because you’re afraid it won’t really matter and make a difference.

WHATEVER your story is about why you’re playing smaller or not really leaning in fully to JOY each and every day, today’s episode of the Joyful Living Podcast will support you in breaking free so you can follow your heart and soul and find more of what you’ve been looking for.

Joyful Living Quinn Curtis ep 73

In today’s episode I share how to create our dreams and goals IN FLOW + ON FIRE. Listen in as I explain what soulful creation has actually looked like in my life, so you can lean in to soulful creation even more in your life by understanding how this all can work harmoniously.

So many of us play small and keep our dreams quiet because we think it’s “better” for everyone and will rock the boat of our lives too greatly to actually listen and take action. Others of us may feel frustrated from taking action, but feeling like we’re never going to get anywhere and our dreams will go unmet.

We discuss the hunger that lives within all of our hearts and souls and how too many of us live starving instead of meeting this hunger and thirst, able to meet the needs and satiate the desires within.

I also share more about the recent birth of one of my BIG heart + soul dreams: Soul Brand Camp. It was epic, magical + life-changing for myself and all who attended. And yet, it was terrifying at many moments to create and almost didn’t happen due to the subconscious self-sabotage at work. Listen in to learn how to navigate these uncharted waters of your soul to finally create what you’ve been craving and dreaming of for so long.

I also mention how I was begged to do another Soul Brand Camp, so registration is live now for the next event in October and you can see the details by clicking the image below. We’d LOVE to have you join us if your soul is calling for this epic, magic + life-changing weekend! In order to keep it a small, intimate experience, in person tickets are limited and are expected to sell out, so if you want to be there, snag your ticket soon. SOOOO BEAUTIFUL + YUMMY!!!

Here’s what attendees are saying about their experience at Brand Camp:

Owning our own genius + celebrating the genius within everyone!

All live, in-person attendees had a beautiful headshot taken of them at the event to support their soul brand development.

Cheering on every person as they had their headshot photos taken! This was one of the most fun parts of the day (and almost every attendee was nervous about having their photo taken). But we made it a party!

And here are some of the gorgeous headshots! Everyone looks so beautiful!

The lovely VIP dinner afterwards:

And deep gratitude to my epic support team:

The Courage to be Intentional // Special Guest Nicole Holland (Episode 72)

Host of two hot podcasts; The Business Building Rockstars Show & Get Guest Ready, Nicole Holland helps subject matter experts increase their visibility exponentially through podcast guesting to create greater impact, influence, and income. I hope you’ll listen in as she shares her passion and perspective on intention and quality time in life and in business!

Today, we talk about the importance and joy in being PRESENT IN THE MOMENT, we remember that it takes COURAGE to be intentional, and we take comfort in the reality that self-awareness is an ongoing journey.

We all encounter challenges, trials, and obstacles in life, in relationships, and in business. Worry and stress can creep in and overwhelm us so easily, if we let them.

Nicole shares an insightful tip for gaining clarity in those moments of worry: she simply pauses and asks herself, “Whose business is this? Is the thing that’s causing my stress and worry MY business? Someone else’s business? Or, is it God’s business?”

The brilliance in asking these questions is that, once you identify who’s business it is, you can then choose how to respond. If the issue isn’t something that you have direct control over or can’t easily manage, then it’s simply not your business! And, if it’s not your business, there’s no use worrying about it any more.

As you let go of the things you can’t control, you’re better able to focus your intentions and efforts on being present in your life and really living in the moment.

Living in the moment isn’t just about using our time wisely, but about the quality of the time we spend. Time is one of the few limited resources we have, and it’s often squandered so easily because we get distracted.

Have you ever had the sense that you’re living your life on autopilot? Have you had those moments when you look around and wonder if your life or business really reflect what’s most important to you?

That is what living intentionally is all about. It’s about choosing the walk the path of self-awareness… and to return to that path over and over again.

As you go through the ups and downs in life, remember to ask yourself what’s really important to you. Be open and honest with yourself about how you want to run your life, your business, and your household.

Nicole encourages us to find what it is that we can’t live without doing, having, or becoming… and then to commit wholeheartedly to realizing that passion and those dreams in our lives. Then, from there, it’s all about just enjoying the journey and remembering that, even when we encounter something that looks bad on the surface, there’s always a lesson to be learned, an opportunity to take, and joy to be found.

Podcaster, Master Coach, and Marketing Strategist all rolled up into one purple-haired powerhouse, Nicole Holland is known as the secret weapon that smart CEOs and successful small business owners turn to, to grow their business exponentially through Podcast Guesting.

Proud to have been named in the Huffington Post as one of “50 Must-Follow Women Entrepreneurs in 2017” alongside female business leaders like Marie Forleo, Danielle LaPorte, Amy Porterfield, and Dorie Clark, Nicole is all about recognizing and empowering today’s emerging leaders to get known now!

The Power to Choose a Life You Love // Special Guest Jessica Yarbrough (Episode 71)

Join me this week as I dive into all things joyful with Jessica Yarbrough!

For Jessica, joyful living is being able to make the choices that are best for her and her family.

There is such freedom in the power of CHOICE. We are faced with decisions and opportunities all the time. Do we choose to invest in ourselves? Do we choose to take those leaps of faith and really recognize and live according to our true worth?

As women, we often put our own needs on the back burner. We can find ourselves held back by the limiting belief that we must wait until our children are grown or until the needs of others are met before working towards our own dreams. Sound familiar?

In reality, you can be an AMAZING mother, spouse, partner, or friend AND totally crush it with your business or career! It’s not only possible to do both, it’s a choice that each and every one of us can make!

Jessica reminds us that, “You are the only person standing in your way.”

So, what gifts, talents, skills, and ideas are you holding back?

CHOOSE  to RISE UP, own your gifts, and create the life of your dreams! And, when you step into your power, you’ll not only create a life you love, but you’ll inspire others to do the same.

Jessica Yarbrough, “The Mompreneur Coach,” is a successful entrepreneur, marketing strategist, and business coach. She helps women create high end coaching programs so they can easily make 5 figures a month without working more than 20 hours a week.

Her expertise includes being an accomplished branding, strategy, and digital marketing expert. She brings more than a decade of marketing experience to her coaching programs. As a single mother, her mission is to support women with the tools, tactics, and resources to build a 6 figure business they can run from home.

The Stories We Tell (Episode 70)

Is someone driving you nuts? Are you feeling like maybe you won’t ever be able to have what you really want? Are you playing small in your life or business?

At the root of any of these feelings is a STORY that is either holding you captive or liberating you.

In today’s episode of Joyful Living we dive deep into the difference between stories vs. facts (and how our we + our egos get sneaky and try to convince ourselves that our stories are facts/truth).

Facts are something that can scientifically be proven to be true, largely because that something ALWAYS or NEVER is a certain way. Example: the earth is ALWAYS round and NEVER flat = fact.

Opinions are simply based on our perspectives and preferences. Opinions are similar to stories in that they cannot necessarily be proven to be true or false. Example: the earth is a beautiful and safe place = opinion.

The biggest crazy-train we jump on in life is believing that our stories are facts, when they are actually simply opinions. The big spoiler for how to tell the difference between a fact and an opinion/story is if it holds up to the “always” or “never” test.

You’ll learn how to tell the difference by taking your story through the “always/never” and “everybody/nobody” tests to see if you’ve got a fact on your hands or one wild, convincing story.

Why does this matter so much?

Because pretty much everything we do as humans is rooted in a story. The more you hold things up to the “always/never” test, the more you realize that there are far fewer facts in life than we often believe.

Stories are based in our opinions and perceptions. By changing our stories, we change our lives.

Deceptively simple + elegantly powerful.

Cheering you on in setting yourself free by becoming aware of the stories that are keeping you stuck and then choosing more empowering, supportive and joyful stories!

Everyday Joy When Life Gets Messy (Episode 68)

In any given moment, it can feel like things are falling apart, coming together, and changing. And, while life looks a little messy and I feel myself continue to adapt and adjust to the present flow in my world, I feel compelled to pause and come share with you some of the things I have learned and principles that I believe help us rise to the occasion of whatever our individual path looks like.

An interesting thing happens in the creation process of heart and soul projects… we start to believe that when we FINALLY reach that finish line, everything will be okay. And yet, it’s when we attach to an outcome or result, that’s when our present moment becomes uncomfortable and insufficient.

The beautiful reality is that it’s totally okay that things are coming together AND falling apart at any given time! Honor that those feelings can – and usually do – exist at the same time MOST of the time in life, and you will feel free from the pressure of finish lines and expectations.

In order to really live joyfully in the present moment, recognize that when you are creating big, heartfelt, soulful things, the process is both MIRACULOUS AND MESSY!

As we allow ourselves to LOVE WHAT IS throughout every season, we are able to let go of the attachment to things falling apart or coming together and what that finish line might be, things really do work out in the right timing and flow.
